Harrogate sex attack: Man arrested over assault on girl
Police investigating a group sex attack on a teenage girl in a Harrogate park have arrested a man.
North Yorkshire Police said the 14-year-old was pulled into a wooded area near Harlow Moor Drive at about 04:00 GMT on Tuesday, where she was subjected to a serious sexual assault.
Police said the arrested man was "helping police with their inquiries".
Harlow Moor Drive runs alongside Harrogate's Valley Gardens, which are Grade II listed.
Det Ch Insp Dave Ellis of North Yorkshire Police said the force was seeking more information.
Mr Ellis said: "I'd like to emphasise that investigations remain ongoing and the public's help is vital, so we'd urge anyone with any information to come forward.
"We realise the incident will cause a great deal of concern in the local community but I'd like to reassure residents that we are doing everything possible to investigate this incident while providing a strong police presence in the community."
The victim is receiving specialist support.
On Tuesday, North Yorkshire Police said officers were looking for three men in connection with the attack.
