Blue police lights stolen from serious Raskelf collision

Flashing blue lights have been stolen from police who were dealing with a serious accident in North Yorkshire.

A 40-year-old Easingwold man was critically injured on Sunday night when his car came off the road between Helperby and Raskelf.

North Yorkshire Police said during their investigations thieves stole the lights, which were put on top of cones to make the scene visible.

The man is in a life-threatening condition at Hull Royal Infirmary.

He was initially taken to York Hospital with serious head and facial injuries.

The accident happened on West Moor Road when the silver Nissan Almera he was driving came off the road outside Raskelf Farm Cottages at around 22:55 GMT on Sunday.

The road was closed in both directions for several hours.
