Darlington man killed in three-car A1 crash

A 72-year-old man from Darlington has died in a crash involving three cars on the A1 in North Yorkshire.

The man was driving a red Ford Focus when it was involved in a collision with a silver Peugeot 206 and a black Nissan Qashqai at about 07:40 GMT.

The crash occurred on the southbound carriageway of the A1 at junction 56 between Barton and Scotch Corner.

The road was closed southbound from J58 of the A1(M) to Scotch Corner on the A1 but re-opened at about 15:15 GMT.

No-one else was injured in the crash.
