Driver dies on A168 after hitting HGV parked in lay-by

A man has been killed after crashing into the back of a lorry parked in a lay-by in North Yorkshire.

The man, who was in his 60s, was pronounced dead at the scene after his Mercedes A-Class hit the HGV on the A168 between Dishforth and Thirsk.

The lorry driver, a man aged in his 30s, was uninjured.

North Yorkshire Police closed both lanes of the northbound carriageway following the accident at 10:30 GMT on Sunday.
