A man who made sexual approaches to two teenage girls has been jailed for four years and three months.

Julian Pike, of Lowfield, Gayle, Hawes, North Yorkshire, had pleaded guilty at Teesside Crown Court to two counts of inciting sexual activity with a child.

Pike, 48, approached the girls, aged 14 and 15, in 2009 and 2011.

Following his arrest, in May 2013, indecent images of children were found on his computers. He also admitted 13 counts in relations to those images.

Speaking after sentencing, Det Con Steve Alderson, of North Yorkshire Police, said: "Julian Pike tried to take advantage of two under-age girls and was also in possession of some very disturbing images of children.

"I am pleased that the court have recognised the severity of his actions and have imposed an appropriate sentence."
