Princess Anne presents medals to 2nd Signal Regiment
Hundreds of soldiers based at Imphal Barracks in York have received operational medals from the Princess Royal after serving in Afghanistan.
Three hundred soldiers from 2nd Signal Regiment have recently returned from a six-month tour of duty in Helmand Province and Kabul.
While there, the regiment provided vital communication links to British forces.
Princess Anne presented the medals in front of family and friends.
The princess, who is colonel in chief of the Royal Signals, presented the medals alongside Lt Gen Robert Baxter CBE, master of signals, and Brig Jonathan Cole, commander of 11th Signal Brigade.
On Friday, the regiment took part in a homecoming parade through York where hundreds of people celebrated their return to the city.
