Goose beaten to death with sticks in Scarborough

A goose has been beaten to death near a Scarborough park by three youths armed with sticks.

The group ran off when they were challenged by man who saw the bird being attack on Valley Road.

PC Holly Hornsby, from Scarborough Police, said: "This was a pointless, barbaric act against a defenceless animal."

North Yorkshire Police have just given details of the incident which happened on Thursday at about 06:00 BST.

"It is important that we find out who is responsible and I am urging anyone who can help to identify the youths involved to come forward as soon as possible," said PC Hornsby.
