Man dies in York sheltered housing fire
A man has died in a fire at a sheltered housing complex in North Yorkshire fire investigation officers say.
Emergency crews were called to a fire at City Mills retirement home in York at 10:00 GMT where an elderly man was found dead at the scene.
Skeldergate was closed for time because of the fire and the large number of emergency vehicles at the incident.
The man has not yet been named. The fire is not believed to be suspicious, the fire service said.
It is is believed to have started in a second-floor flat of the home, which opened in 1990.
There was also smoke damage to four other rooms.
