Work to improve Northallerton junction to start

Road improvement work is to start to ease congestion and improve pedestrian safety at a junction in North Yorkshire.

The county council said there had been several accidents over the years at the junction of South Parade and High Street in Northallerton.

The number of lanes will be reduced and a pedestrian refuge installed.

The work, which starts on Monday, will be carried out in three phases and is expected to take three weeks.
