Canoeists rescued from swollen River Ouse near York

Three canoeists were rescued from a river near York by police and fire crews after their boat capsized.

Police officers and crews from North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue were called to the scene at Naburn Lock on the River Ouse on Saturday afternoon.

One person was pulled from the water by police officers and fire and rescue crews used a boat to get to the other two.

They were treated for mild hypothermia after their ordeal.
