Car plunges off Masham bridge into river


A woman has been taken to hospital for treatment after her car crashed through a brick wall, overturned and ended up in a river in North Yorkshire.

The accident happened at Masham on the narrow bridge over the River Ure at 1830 GMT.

The woman managed to escape from the fast-flowing water, North Yorkshire Police said.

She was taken to Harrogate Hospital in a serious, but not life-threatening condition.
