Armed police in York arrest Sainsbury's robbery suspect
A suspected robber was cornered by armed police after staff at a supermarket in York were threatened with a knife.
Air support from West Yorkshire Police was called to help trace the offender after he fled empty-handed from the Sainsbury's store in Acomb on Monday.
After a tip-off from a passerby, armed officers surrounded a house in Croftway, off Acomb Green.
A 27-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident.
Police said the robber had fled the supermarket empty-handed and no-one had been injured.
The Sainsbury's store was closed for several hours as police investigated the incident.
