Mutilated dead pony found in paddock in Salisbury

A dead and mutilated pony has been discovered in a paddock in Wiltshire.

Police said the animal's body was found by its owners near Kensington Road in Salisbury just before 11:00 BST on Monday.

Wiltshire Police described it as a "distressing incident" and said the 12-year-old Shetland Pony named Jasper had been mutilated.

A spokesman said officers believes the attack occurred at some point overnight and an investigation is underway.
