Vehicle falls off army truck and smashes into Wiltshire gardens

A vehicle fell off an army trailer and smashed into several garden walls, causing major delays in Wiltshire.

The crash happened in Wroughton near Swindon after the excavator slid off the low-loader on the High Street.

The A4361 Swindon to Devizes Road is shut between the B4005 Wharf Road junction and the turn-off for Uffcott.

There are severe delays in both directions and the High Street is closed. No-one was injured in the crash, Wiltshire Police said.

The vehicle also hit an electrical pole and more than 20 homes are now without power.
