Seven rescued from Corsham disused mine

Seven people who got lost in a disused mine had to be rescued by firefighters.

A crew was called to the former Box Freestone Mine in Corsham at around 21:30 BST on Saturday.

Wiltshire Fire & Rescue Service said three people were unable to find their way out, but were rescued with the help of a local guide.

A further four people were also found walking around the mines at the same time. The majority where young adults, with an aged from 20 to 21.

Corsham Fire Station tweeted: "7 persons rescued tonight from disused mine with minor injures.

"Please do not enter mines unless you have the correct equipment and knowledge stay safe."
