Melksham river death man named as Nigel Boodle

A man who died after being pulled from the River Avon in Melksham has been formally identified by police.

Nigel Clive Boodle, 70, was treated at the riverside by paramedics on Tuesday afternoon before being taken to hospital, where he later died.

Wiltshire Police said they were not treating his death as suspicious and an inquest is now due to take place.

The rescue took place at a location in the town known as Melksham Gate, behind Sainsbury's.
