Former council building in Trowbridge being demolished

A former council building in Trowbridge is being demolished after the council became a unitary and staff moved out.

The 1970s-built Bradley Road building was the West Wiltshire District Council HQ before it was abolished in 2009.

Its function was taken over by the Wiltshire Council unitary authority based at County Hall in the town.

The authority said the building was being demolished because it would cost too much to renovate and it would save £750,000 a year in running costs.

The move forms part of plans to reduce the number of buildings and offices used by Wiltshire Council from 95 to three.
