A 27-year-old man was arrested after an incident in Wiltshire led to the evacuation of a number of homes.

Police investigated reports of a fire in a bedsit between Bond Street and Wesley Road in Trowbridge on Monday.

After concerns "around materials located in the premises" bomb disposal experts were also called in.

The man was arrested on suspicion of cultivation of cannabis and possession of explosive materials but has since been released on bail, police said.

Homes were evacuated for several hours as a precautionary measure but residents were allowed to return to their properties at about 21:00 BST.
