New Catholic school in Swindon to be built
A new primary school is to be built in Swindon to tackle a shortage of Catholic school places.
It will be built in the grounds of St Joseph's Catholic College in Ocotal Way.
A Swindon Borough Council spokesman said it will be run by Holy Rood Junior School and the Diocese of Clifton.
Demand for Catholic school places in central Swindon has increased due in part to an influx of families from Goa and Poland.
The new building is expected to be ready in September 2014.
Last week St Joseph's Catholic College was placed into special measures after it was rated inadequate in three out of four areas by Ofsted after an inspection in July.
