Part of the Kennet and Avon Canal in Wiltshire has reopened after it closed when a boat damaged a lock gate.

The top gate of the famous Caen Hill flight of locks was knocked off its hinge in the accident on Saturday.

The stretch of water between locks 22 and 44, was temporarily closed to canal boats while the damage was assessed.

A Canal and River Trust spokesman confirmed a crane has now lifted the lock gate back on to its hinge, and the flight of locks has reopened.
