Public consultation to be held over Marlborough homes plan

A public consultation is to be carried out over proposals for more than 200 homes and a hotel in a Wiltshire town.

The Crown Estate is looking into building the homes on land it owns on Salisbury Road, in Marlborough, and says there is also potential for a hotel.

The estate is consulting with Marlborough town and Savernake parish councils on the proposals.

The site lies within an area of outstanding natural beauty.

A spokesman for the Crown Estate said the homes would "assist the town in meeting its housing need".

"We expect to hold detailed consultation with the wider local community in the spring," he added.
