Sainsbury's Malmesbury supermarket plans go on show

A two-day public exhibition has got under way over plans to build a new supermarket in a Wiltshire town.

Sainsbury's wants to build the new branch in Malmesbury but has not yet submitted a planning application.

The firm said the store on the site of Malmesbury Garden Centre would create 200 new jobs if approval was given.

Also included in the plans are three business units for local firms to lease and a new roundabout on the A429 at the Filands junction north of the town.

Sainsbury's expects to hand in a formal planning application in December.

The public exhibition is being held at the town hall between 12:00 and 19:30 GMT on Friday and from 10:00 to 14:00 GMT on Saturday.
