Police are hunting an armed robber who threatened staff with a knife and butted one employee at a shop in Swindon.

The raider stole a large amount of cash from a safe at the One Stop Shop in Pinehurst at 0730 GMT on Wednesday.

The money was in three red polythene bags with the Post Office insignia on the front.

Officers have issued a CCTV picture of a man they want to trace. Police said it was a "frightening experience".

Det Sgt Emma Spooner said: "Armed robbery is an extremely serious offence and I am keen to apprehend the offender as quickly as possible.

"I would therefore like to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time and saw or heard anything suspicious."

The robber is described as white, aged in his 20s or early 30s, and over 6ft tall.

He was wearing a dark hooded top with a white logo on the left breast and had a drawstring bag on his back. He wore a hat under the hood, and was wearing dark trousers.
