Elderly Salisbury man victim of 'road rage'

A 33-year-old man has been arrested after an alleged road rage assault on an elderly Salisbury man.

The 70-year-old was in his car waiting to turn right into Wilton Road in the city when his car was hit from behind at 1840 GMT on Tuesday.

The driver of the car behind, described as tall and with an Eastern European accent, allegedly began shouting abuse.

He later grabbed hold of the victim's jacket through a window and punched him several times in the face.

Wiltshire Police say during the assault the victim's glasses were broken, he suffered facial injuries and his car was damaged.

A local man was arrested in connection with the incident and released on police bail.

Police have appealed for witnesses.
