Dean Laing death: Police arrest 37-year-old man

A 37-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after a pedestrian was killed when he was hit by a car in Durham.

Dean Laing, 37, from Gilesgate, was found in between two parked cars in the Claypath area of Durham City in the early hours of Saturday.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Durham Police are appealing for anyone who saw a silver Vauxhall Astra in the area at about 02:30 GMT to come forward.
