Man injured in Sunderland street stab attack

A man needed hospital treatment after suffering stab wounds in an attack in the Hendon area of Sunderland.

The 32-year-old victim, who has not been named, was approached by two men in a lane at the rear of Guildford Street on Sunday evening.

The attackers stabbed the man before making off with a bag he was carrying, a Northumbria Police spokesman said.

The man's injuries were not life-threatening and he was allowed home after treatment in hospital.
