The court was told the Jet2 Boeing 757, with 200 passengers on board, was flying into Newcastle Airport when the incident happened.

He is also alleged to have aimed a laser pen at the Durham Police helicopter which was sent to investigate, the court was told.

The case was adjourned to allow time for more details to be made available of the jet's flight path.

The court was told the youth would be pleading guilty to pointing the laser pen at the police helicopter and to a separate charge of assault.
