On-street parking is a problem around Sunderland Royal Hospital

People have once again been asked to give their views on plans to ease on-street parking problems around Sunderland Royal Hospital.

An earlier survey revealed insufficient support for a residents' permit-based scheme across 74 streets in the area.

A new one has now been drawn up covering about 40 streets within the vicinity of the hospital.

Residents and businesses in the proposed parking zones have until 29 November to comment.

A free permit would be issued to the first vehicle at each address, with an annual charge for subsequent vehicles or visitors.

To give some flexibility to residents and their visitors, and to visitors to the hospital, the scheme would be operational five days a week, for an hour in the morning and an hour in the afternoon.
