Prayers for worker who died at Durham Cathedral
Prayers have been said for a worker who died while installing a new stained glass window at Durham Cathedral.
Michael Lassen fell from a ladder on 3 September and was taken to Newcastle General Hospital, where he later died.
Prayers were said during a dedication ceremony for the window, in memory of former Bishop of Durham and Archbishop of Canterbury Michael Ramsey.
The new Transfiguration Window was funded by donations from the Friends of Durham Cathedral.
Artist Tom Denny, who has been working on the window for three years, said: "I'm very pleased with it. It is quite an extraordinary experience to see it for the first time in its entirety.
"For three years I've been working on it in sections, where I've just seen parts of it and not the whole."
The window's images depict Christ's transfiguration, a part of the Scriptures that Archbishop Ramsey found particularly inspirational.
Dean of Durham The Very Reverend Michael Sadgrove added: "I think the window is a really inspirational piece of art and one of the best 21st Century pieces of art in a church anywhere."
