Police uncover £92k cannabis farm near Durham

Two men have been arrested after police discovered a cannabis farm with a potential street value of more than £90,000 at a property on the outskirts of Durham.

Officers raided the house in Bradford Crescent, Gilesgate, on Thursday night.

Inside, they found a total of 92 plants and a sophisticated lighting and heating system.

Two men, both aged 29, were arrested on suspicion of cultivating cannabis and taken to Durham city police station.

PC Ged Cook said; "The two mother plants were the biggest any of us had ever seen, they were like props from Jack and the Beanstalk.

"We think all the other plants had been cultivated from cuttings taken from them."
