Caledonian Hotel: Fire crews tackle blaze

More than 30 firefighters have been sent to tackle a blaze at the Caledonian Hotel in Newcastle.

Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service said it was called to the premises in Osborne Road in Jesmond at 17:23 BST.

The fire service confirmed there were no casualties but firefighters were "working incredibly hard to contain the fire".

People have been advised to avoid the area and residents asked to close windows and doors due to smoke.
