Four people have been charged after a man was attacked with hatchets, bats, metal bars, knives and ammonia.

The victim suffered stab wounds and a fractured skull when he was targeted by masked men as he stood outside the Fosse Hotel pub in Walker, Newcastle, on 8 December.

One man has been remanded in custody to appear at Newcastle Crown Court on 30 March.

The three others were bailed to appear before magistrates on 7 April.

All were charged with violent disorder.

It follows two men being charged late last year in connection with the incident.

One faces allegations of violent disorder and wounding with intent to cause GBH, and is remanded in custody.

The second is charged with aggravated taking of a vehicle without consent and is on bail.

Both are scheduled to go on trial at Newcastle Crown Court on 5 June.

A female bystander squirted with ammonia also needed hospital treatment.
