'Wrong hands' fear over stolen firearms
Firearms stolen during a burglary in Sunderland could "fall into the wrong hands" unless found as soon as possible, police have said.
A property in West Park, Herrington, was broken in to some time between Saturday evening and Monday morning.
A bolt action rifle, a semi-automatic shotgun, a 12-bore shotgun and an air rifle were taken from a gun cabinet.
Northumbria Police has appealed for gun dealers who have been offered similar items to get in touch.
The guns taken were a .22 cz2452 bolt action rifle, a Hatsan semi-automatic shotgun, a Lamber double-barrelled over and under 12-bore shotgun and a Webley Vulcan air rifle with scope and silencer.
Det Sgt Steve Wallace said: "It is important we find these firearms as soon as possible before they fall into the wrong hands."
