South Shields pub murder: Seven men arrested

Seven men have been arrested in connection with the murder of a man in South Shields.

A 31-year-old man was found unconscious at 23:00 BST on Wednesday following a disturbance inside the Prince Edward pub on Prince Edward Road.

He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Four men, aged 34, 33, 30 and 28, were arrested on suspicion of murder, although the 30-year-old was released with no further action.

A 58-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter.

Two men, aged 26 and 31, have been arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm.
