Man killed in Durham City house fire named

A man who died in a house fire in County Durham has been named.

County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue crews were called to the blaze at Beech Close, Brasside, on Monday evening.

Murdo Macleod, believed to be in his early 60s, was pronounced dead at the scene. A post mortem is due to be carried out.

A joint investigation between the fire service and Durham Police to establish the cause of the fire is under way.
