Man dies following crash on A69 in Northumberland

A man has died following a two-vehicle crash in Northumberland.

A Ford Transit and a Suzuki Jimny collided on the eastbound carriageway of the A69 at Haydon Bridge at about 07:00 GMT on Monday.

Kevin Capstick, 37, from Consett, who was driving the Suzuki suffered serious injuries. He was treated at the scene by paramedics but was pronounced dead.

The driver of the van was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police said.

Both carriageways were closed for nearly four hours.
