A former crisp factory in County Durham is being taken over by a manufacturing company following a £2.2m investment which will create 60 new jobs.

Dunlop BTL which is based in Kent, is expanding into the former KP Snacks site in Consett which closed last year.

The £250,00 premises will be used as its main manufacturing and distribution centre in Europe, a spokesman said.

The company said 35 people will be appointed short term, with 60 posts expected to be filled by 2019.

Dunlop BTL, formerly Medway Ltd, manufactures and supplies bearings, transmissions and motion transfer linkages.
