Durham cyclist struck and killed by bus on B6532

An elderly cyclist died when he was struck by a bus in Durham.

The man was hit by a single-deck Go North East bus on the B6532 near to the junction with Trouts Lane between Sacriston and Durham at about 11:15 GMT on Tuesday.

The local man, believed to be in his eighties, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A Go North East spokesman said the driver and four people on board the bus were uninjured.

The company said it was assisting police with their investigation.
