Newcastle shooting: Two arrested on suspicion of attempted murder

Two men who were sought by police in connection with a shooting in Newcastle have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

A 32-year-old man suffered gunshot wounds to the leg and a head injury at a house in Scarborough Road on 30 May.

The victim remains in hospital in a stable condition.

Northumbria Police said John Mario Thompson, 29, and David Francis, 28, were arrested on Wednesday night on suspicion of attempted murder.

A 42-year-old man and a 49-year-old woman have also been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.
