Northumbria policeman charged over cocaine haul
A police constable is among 11 people who have been charged following a six-month probe and the seizure of £1m of cocaine.
Northumbria Police said seven men and three women have been charged with plotting to supply Class A.
The policeman, who was suspended from work in May, has been charged with misconduct in a public office.
All 11 people will appear at Peterlee Magistrates' Court on 9 January.
Police said about £33,000 cash and vehicles had also been seized in connection with the investigation.
Those charged are aged between 19 and 47 and are from South Shields, Jarrow, Durham and Sunderland.
