A family have paid tribute to a motorcyclist who died in a collision with a tractor.

Gavin Hardy, 32, was killed at about 17:00 BST on Nettlebed Lane near Toft Hill, Bishop Auckland.

Riding a Honda Fireblade, he was with two friends when the crash happened on Saturday.

A family statement said Mr Hardy, of Escomb Road, Bishop Auckland, was "a much loved husband, father and son who was devoted to his family".

It added: "He was a popular person who would do anything for anyone, he will be greatly missed by all who knew him."

The 57-year-old tractor driver was not injured.

Investigators have renewed their appeal for witnesses to come forward.
