Durham car death man Andrew Cook was 'kind-hearted'

The family of a man killed when he was hit by a car in Durham City have paid tribute to a "kind-hearted person".

Andrew Cook, of Garden Lane, Durham, is thought to have been lying on South Road when he was hit by the vehicle at about 22:30 GMT on Thursday.

He died from his injuries. The driver of the car and her passenger were not injured.

Mr Cook's family said the 34-year-old "loved life and his family" and was "always willing to help others".
