Four more arrests over conspiracy to rape on Tyneside
Police investigating allegations of sexual assault involving teenage girls and young women on Tyneside have arrested five more men.
Since Monday, a total of 26 people have been arrested, all on suspicion of rape, as part of Operation Sanctuary.
It follows searches of 25 houses in Newcastle, Gateshead and South Tyneside.
All the 24 men and two women arrested since Monday have been bailed pending further inquiries.
Northumbria Police said some of the alleged victims were in local authority care, and those involved were from "a range of communities".
