John Hall death: Stuart Smith sought by police

A man is being sought by police investigating the death of a man found in Durham with multiple injuries.

The body of John Hall, 46, of Shiney Row, Sunderland, was discovered in West Rainton on 15 September.

Northumbria Police said Stuart Bycroft Smith, 42, from Houghton, could have helpful information.

Two men, aged 45 and 48, charged with murdering Mr Hall have appeared before magistrates in Sunderland and remanded in custody.

Two other men, aged 43 and 32, have been bailed pending further enquiries, while a 34-year-old man remains in custody.

A force spokesperson said: "Officers are in the process of locating Stuart Bycroft Smith.

"Although there is nothing to suggest he is any risk to members of the public, anyone who sees him or knows of his whereabouts is asked not to approach him but to contact police immediately on 999."
