Man arrested after man and dog die in North Tyneside

A man and a dog have died in a car crash in North Tyneside.

The car left the road at about 19:20 GMT on Tuesday at the off slip to Norham Road from the Coast Road (A1058) and hit a crash barrier.

Mark Flynn, aged 38 from Blyth, was pronounced dead at the scene. A dog was also killed in the crash, police said.

A man, 30, who is believed to have been involved in the crash attended a police station and was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
