Bail for Newcastle shooting arrest teenagers

A pair of teenagers arrested after a man was injured in a shooting in Newcastle have been released on bail.

Police were called to an address in Newarth Close in the Lemington area of the city early on Saturday.

A 40-year-old was taken to hospital, where his condition is described as non-life threatening.

Two 17-year-old boys were arrested on suspicion of assault and bailed pending further inquiries. Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses.

A Northumbria Police spokesman described it as an isolated incident.
