Teenager arrested after family flee Redcar firework blaze

A teenager has been arrested on suspicion of arson after a firework was thrown through a house window, forcing a family to flee the burning home.

A front window of the house in Kirkleatham Lane, Redcar, was smashed before the firework was hurled through just before 22:00 GMT on 31 October.

It started a blaze which forced a man, woman and teenage boy to flee. No-one was injured, Cleveland Police said.

The arrested man has been bailed pending further inquiries.
