A man who died after being struck by a car has been named.

Trevor McGhee was found seriously injured on the A689 at Newton Cap Viaduct, near Bishop Auckland in County Durham, on Thursday.

The 51-year-old, from the Crook area, was taken to Darlington Memorial Hospital, where he died of his injuries.

Durham Police appealed for anyone with information about the crash, at 05:00 BST, to contact the force.
