Two bailed over dog found buried alive with nail in head
Two men arrested after a dog was found buried alive with a nail in its head have been bailed.
The animal was discovered in a mound of earth by a couple walking in Kirkleatham Woods, Redcar on Wednesday.
The terrier-type dog was rushed to a vet but its injuries were so severe it had to be put down.
Cleveland Police said the men, aged 60 and 59, from the Redcar area were held on suspicion of animal cruelty and were interviewed by an RSPCA officer.
A vigil, where people can lay flowers, is planned to take place at the wood later.
