Middlesbrough man charged over police firearm incident

A man who allegedly pointed a handgun at police has been charged with possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.

The 21-year-old was charged after an incident in Corporation Road, Middlesbrough, at about 04:30 BST on Sunday.

Cleveland Police said a baton round was fired at a man and he was treated in hospital for bruising and a bite from a police dog.

He is due to appear at court later.
